WikiMasters card game transforms Wikipedia pages into collectibles

WikiMasters, an online collectible card game based on Wikipedia articles, has seen a surge in popularity, particularly within the French-speaking web. Launched in March 2026 by a Quebecois developer, the game transforms Wikipedia pages into digital cards. The rarity of a card is determined by the popularity of its corresponding Wikipedia entry; highly viewed pages yield rarer cards, while less frequent topics result in common ones.

Players can collect cards from millions of French-language Wikipedia pages, participate in general knowledge quizzes, trade cards, or use the in-game currency, ‘wikibidous’, for auctions. While the game is free to play, a Pro subscription is available for approximately 9.99 Canadian dollars per month, offering more frequent boosters and increased access to rare cards.

A similar game, Wikigacha, was launched in February 2026 by Japanese developer Harusugi, though WikiMasters currently maintains a stronger presence in the Francophone market.
