Wilber Honório Muñoz completes 360-day Amazon river swim

Colombian activist Wilber Honório Muñoz, known as ‘Homem-Peixe’ (Fish-Man), has completed a 360-day expedition swimming through the rivers of the Amazon region. The journey concluded in Belém, Pará, with the primary goal of raising awareness regarding river pollution and the necessity of water preservation.

The expedition faced significant challenges, including fluctuating water levels due to dry and flood seasons. During the final stages in the Marajó Bay, Muñoz briefly lost contact with his support team and was temporarily considered missing before being located and assisted by crew members from a passing vessel.

Following the conclusion of his swim, Muñoz is scheduled to participate in an event in Muaná, Marajó, to discuss his journey and environmental advocacy. While he has expressed interest in exploring Belém and its local culture, his next mission remains undisclosed.
