Wild boar encounters reported in Kagawa and Kumamoto
Wild boar sightings and encounters have been reported in multiple regions of Japan, leading to safety warnings and a serious injury.
In Kagawa Prefecture, a man in his 50s sustained serious injuries, including a broken collarbone, after his motorcycle collided with a wild boar on the Goshikidai Skyline in Takamatsu on the evening of August 23. Police located an injured boar in a nearby wooded area, which subsequently fled the scene.
In Kumamoto Prefecture, a wild boar was sighted near the Murata district of Kikuchi City around 6:50 AM. Local authorities have advised residents to avoid approaching the animal, to remain calm and leave the area if an encounter occurs, and to exercise caution while driving to prevent sudden collisions.
