Wild boar populations increase in Bytom and Sułkowice
Increasing wild boar populations are causing significant disturbances in several Polish municipalities, including Bytom and Sułkowice. In Bytom, authorities have responded to 173 interventions through August, with frequent sightings in areas such as Miechowice, Stroszek, and Szombierki. Officials attribute the urban migration to a lack of natural predators and easy access to food caused by residents feeding the animals or improper waste management.
In the Sułkowice municipality, the growing presence of wild boar packs in residential areas like Biertowice and Harbutowice has prompted Mayor Artur Grabczyk to convene a meeting with local hunting clubs, police, and political representatives. The meeting aims to coordinate safety procedures, analyze animal migration routes, and discuss the possibility of increasing reductionary hunting to manage the threat to residents and property.
