Wild elephant ‘Mek Jeram’ attracts crowds in Terengganu

Residents in Kampung Jeram, Manir, Terengganu, have flocked to the area to catch a glimpse of a female wild elephant nicknamed ‘Mek Jeram’. The elephant was first spotted in the village on a Friday afternoon and was subsequently captured by the Department of Wildlife and National Parks (PERHILITAN) Terengganu on Saturday night.

The presence of the mammal has turned the village into a local attraction, drawing crowds of residents and visitors eager to see the animal up close. This influx of people has also provided a boost to local small-scale vendors, such as ice cream sellers, who have seen increased sales due to the crowds.
