Wild lemongrass demand rises in Quang Ngai

Wild lemongrass fruit, harvested naturally in the mountainous regions of Ba To and Son Tay in Quang Ngai, is seeing high consumer demand despite its premium price. The fruit, which is small like a peppercorn and releases a strong lemongrass aroma when crushed, is highly sought after as a natural spice for seasoning meats and soups.

Due to its seasonal nature and reliance on wild harvesting, prices remain high. Fresh wild lemongrass is priced between 100,000 and 150,000 VND per kg. Dried versions, which are more convenient for transport and longer storage, sell for between 250,000 and 300,000 VND per kg. Retailers report that stock often sells out quickly as urban consumers increasingly prefer unique, natural forest spices.
