Wild Waves Theme & Water Park to close after nearly 50 years

Wild Waves Theme & Water Park, a long-standing attraction in Federal Way, Washington, has announced it will permanently close its gates on November 1, 2026. The park, which opened in 1977, has operated for nearly five decades, offering a combination of traditional amusement rides and water attractions across approximately 70 acres.

The decision to cease operations is driven by significant financial difficulties. Kieran Burke, president and owner of Premier Parks, stated that rising operational costs following the COVID-19 pandemic-induced shutdowns have resulted in millions of dollars in losses. Burke noted that the current financial situation has made continued operation “financially unviable.”

The park features over 30 attractions, including the Timber Hawk wooden roller coaster and the Pacific Plunge. Management is planning a special farewell program to mark the final season in 2026.
