Wildcat captured on camera in Cheile Nerei – Beușnița National Park
A wildcat was captured on a monitoring camera in the Cheile Nerei – Beușnița National Park in Romania. The footage shows the feline sharpening its claws on a tree trunk.
Romsilva, the national forestry administration, noted that the wildcat typically hunts at night, feeding on small mammals and birds. At maturity, these cats can weigh up to 8 kilograms and reach 70 centimeters in length. They are characterized by a striped appearance and a thick, ringed tail.
The Cheile Nerei – Beușnița National Park covers 37,100 hectares in southwestern Romania and includes UNESCO-protected old-growth beech forests.
