Wildfire firefighting operations conclude in Wales and Scotland

Firefighting operations have concluded at two separate wildfire sites in the United Kingdom. In Wales, the Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service announced that the proactive firefighting phase for the Rhandirmwyn wildfire near Llandovery has ended. Following a multi-agency response that included helicopter support and evacuations of residential properties, crews have left the scene. The area will continue to be monitored through regular visits to check for remaining hotspots.

In Scotland, the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service has also completed work on the Cairngorms wildfire after nearly five weeks of activity. The blaze, which began near Aviemore in July, devastated approximately 25 square kilometers of land. While crews have left the scene and handed areas back to the RSPB, officials warned that some locations remain hazardous due to unstable ground and the risk of falling trees. The RSPB noted that staff are still working to extinguish scattered hotspots in certain parts of the reserve.
