Wildfire near Presteigne requires multiple fire crews

More than five fire crews battled a wildfire near Presteigne in the Burlingjobb area on Thursday, August 6. The fire front was estimated to be approximately 500 metres long.

Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service crews from Presteigne, Brecon, Knighton, and Hay-on-Wye responded to the incident, with additional support from the Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service. The blaze is believed to be a re-ignition of a previous fire from Hanter Hill, which had been battled by crews in late July. Responders utilized wildfire beaters and one hose reel jet to control and extinguish the flames.
