Wildfire near Vysoka Mogila burns 300 decares of forest in Bulgaria

A wildfire near the village of Vysoka Mogila in Bulgaria has burned approximately 300 decares of deciduous forest. The fire, which began around 11:30 AM on August 8, initially started near an uninhabited house and several farm buildings before spreading into nearby oak forests due to strong and highly variable winds.

Seven firefighting teams, along with volunteers from the Boboshevo Municipality and additional crews from Sofia, have been deployed to combat the flames. The fire has affected two houses, and efforts have been focused on preventing the blaze from reaching the villages of Vysoka Mogila and Sopovo. Heavy machinery has been utilized to create a firebreak between large forest massifs to contain the perimeter.

While officials stated that there is currently no immediate danger to the population or residential properties in Sopovo and Vysoka Mogila, the situation remains dynamic. Authorities are maintaining constant surveillance due to rising temperatures and the risk of the fire reigniting.
