Wildfires across Bulgaria brought under control
Major wildfires across several Bulgarian regions, including Blagoevgrad, Haskovo, Plovdiv, and Gabrovo, have been brought under control following intensive firefighting efforts.
In the Blagoevgrad region, a fire near the village of Dabrava affected approximately 50 decares of dry grass and shrubs, reaching the yards of several houses and damaging six buildings, including one significant structure. No injuries were reported.
In the Haskovo region, a large blaze near Bulgarska Polyana in the Sakar area covered over 1,000 decares of deciduous and coniferous forest. Firefighting efforts involved heavy machinery, volunteers, and a military Cougar helicopter.
Other significant incidents included a fire near Kuklen in Plovdiv that burned 500 decares of land, and a fire near the EMKO ammunition warehouse in Belitsa, Tryavna, which was successfully contained without risk of further explosions or air pollution. In the Pazardzhik region, a fire near Vinogradets was stopped shortly before reaching residential areas, aided by a Mi-17 military helicopter.
