Wildfires and vandalism reported across multiple French regions
Multiple wildfires and an act of vandalism have been reported in various regions of France. In the Haute-Garonne area near Toulouse, a significant fire involving 15 hectares of grass and brush broke out in Vacquiers on September 5. Approximately 38 firefighters and 17 vehicles were deployed to prevent the flames from reaching residential homes and a local stud farm.
In other incidents, a fire in Gardegan-et-Tourtirac burned 4 hectares of meadow near residential houses after an agricultural worker's fire grew out of control; legal proceedings for endangering others have been opened. Another 1.5-hectare accidental fire occurred in Saint-Quentin-de-Caplong, and a fire near Castillon-la-Bataille required emergency intervention. Additionally, a local supermarket in Mouliets-et-Villemartin was vandalized, prompting a formal complaint and an ongoing investigation.
