Wildfires impact Tamaulipas regions in Mexico

Wildfires continue to impact various regions in Tamaulipas, Mexico. In the Sierra de San Carlos, a forest fire that has been active for over a week has affected more than 350 hectares. The blaze, concentrated in oak forests and shrubland near Cerro del Diente and the Las Pilitas Canyon, is currently 80 percent controlled and 70 percent liquidated. A team of 26 personnel is working in the rugged terrain to prevent reactivation caused by heat and wind.

In the municipality of Jiménez, authorities report significant progress in controlling a grassland fire. The State Guard has confirmed that 90 percent of the affected area between the Benito Juárez and El Encinal settlements has been smothered. Under the Plan Tamaulipas, emergency teams remain on site to monitor for new hotspots and manage smoke hazards along Federal Highway 101, where visibility remains a concern for motorists.
