Wildfires and structural fires reported in Portugal and Brazil

Multiple regions in Portugal and Brazil are managing significant fire incidents. In Portugal, a major wildfire in Serra d’Ossa, affecting Estremoz and Redondo, entered a resolution phase on Sunday. The blaze consumed scrubland, pine, and eucalyptus forests, but no casualties were reported. Emergency services deployed over 300 personnel and 112 resources to contain the flames and protect local populations.

In Brazil, a large fire destroyed approximately 300 boxes in the MFE-A pavilion at Ceagesp in São Paulo, causing widespread structural damage to the block. While the fire was extinguished without casualties, the impact on fruit commerce is being assessed. Additionally, the Mato Grosso Military Fire Department is currently battling nine active forest fires across several municipalities, including Nova Monte Verde and Paranatinga, while monitoring heat spots via satellite technology.

In Rio de Janeiro, a new fire department unit was activated in São José do Vale do Rio Preto to enhance emergency response capabilities in the region.
