Wildfires reported in Ariège and Auribeau-sur-Siagne

Multiple wildfires are currently being monitored across different regions of France. In the Ariège department of the Pyrénées, three fires are under surveillance in Saurat, Orlu, and Perles-et-Castellet.

In Orlu, a fire that began on September 14 is progressing through a mountainous area that is difficult for ground crews to access. Aerial reconnaissance shows the fire is located on a ridge between the Baynaye and Ouxis peaks, having burned approximately 12 hectares. Natural barriers such as rock faces and a lake may help limit its spread.

In a separate incident in Auribeau-sur-Siagne, firefighters responded to two small fires that merged to burn approximately 300 square meters. Local authorities, including Mayor Florent Rossi, reported that municipal police have apprehended a suspect believed to be responsible for the ignition.
