Wildlife activity increases in Polish national parks

Seasonal wildlife activity is increasing in Polish national parks. In Biebrza National Park, the moose rut has begun. During this period, males become highly focused on finding females, often becoming less cautious due to hormonal changes. A camera trap recently captured a male moose freezing in place, a behavior experts suggest is a natural reaction to investigate sounds or scents using hearing and smell.

Meanwhile, in Polesie National Park, preparations for autumn migration are underway. Approximately 2,000 cranes have gathered in the Zastaw area, including individuals migrating from Baltic countries. These birds are intensively feeding to build fat reserves necessary for their journey. The migration typically sees a major wave of departures around September 20, with birds traveling through the Carpathians toward Hungary, and eventually to destinations such as France, Spain, Italy, and Algeria.
