Wildlife attacks in Mozambique and Brazil leave individuals injured
Two separate incidents involving large reptiles have resulted in serious injuries to individuals in Mozambique and Brazil.
In the Balama district of Cabo Delgado province, Mozambique, a man survived a crocodile attack at the Hanguesi village dam. The victim was being dragged by the animal when companions intervened to pull him from the water. He was evacuated to a health unit in Balama for medical treatment. Local residents noted that the crocodile may be linked to previous attacks in the area, including a fatal incident involving a village leader.
In Brazil, a fisherman named Jailton was severely injured by a giant alligator exceeding six meters in length at the Araguaia River in Pará. The attack, which occurred in the Boca do Xambioazinho region, resulted in the victim's right leg and hand being badly lacerated. Other fishermen rescued him before he could be dragged into the water. He was transported to a hospital for treatment.
