In a separate environmental incident, a 10.7-meter adult male humpback whale was found dead on a beach in Itanhaém, São Paulo. The Instituto Biopesca, which isolated the area, suggested the whale may have had interaction with fishing activities before dying. However, due to the advanced state of decomposition, a precise cause of death could not be determined. The carcass was removed by local authorities.
