Wildlife conservation efforts focus on macaw rescue and hawk release

In Ponferrada, members of the Asociación Ornitológica de La Bañeza are attempting to rescue a macaw that has been frequenting the Temple Park for approximately one month. To facilitate the capture, rescuers are using another macaw in a cage as a lure. The operation aims to secure the bird before approaching cold weather, which poses a survival risk due to potential lack of adequate food and fresh water.

In a separate wildlife event, the La Paz Government and the Vesty Pakos Biopark successfully released a white-throated hawk (Buteo albigula) into the Pura Pura forest. The bird had been in rehabilitation since June after being found in public with low weight and plumage issues that prevented flight. Following specialized veterinary care, the specimen was returned to its natural habitat.
