Wildlife conservation efforts underway in Turkey
Conservation authorities in Turkey are conducting several wildlife protection and relocation initiatives. In Gaziantep, a baby macaque rescued by Nature Conservation and National Parks teams in Afyonkarahisar has been admitted to the Gaziantep Natural Life Center. Named ‘Garip’ by caregivers, the macaque underwent intensive care, including vitamin and mineral supplements, to address nutritional and blood value issues. After showing positive recovery, the animal is being monitored and is expected to join a group of other macaques within one to two months.
In a separate effort to support biological diversity, an adult female wild goat and her offspring were relocated from Antalya to the Nemrut Caldera National Park in Bitlis. The transfer, coordinated between the Antalya and Bitlis Nature Conservation and National Parks directorates, aimed to integrate the animals into a suitable natural habitat. This initiative is part of ongoing regional efforts to protect wildlife and maintain ecological balance within national parks.
