Wildlife encounters reported in Mexico involving snakes and a crocodile

Recent wildlife encounters in Mexico have involved both snakes and a crocodile entering residential and public areas. In Matehuala, firefighters responded to two separate incidents involving reptiles. At Las Camelias Park, a snake was located but found to be already dead. In a separate call from the Pineño neighborhood, firefighters captured a live snake found on a sofa in a private residence and released it into its natural habitat.

In Las Choapas, Veracruz, a family discovered a small crocodile, approximately one meter in length, hiding under a bed. The residents initially mistook the animal for their dog before discovering the reptile with a lamp. The crocodile was removed from the home and released into a nearby lagoon. Local reports suggest that rising water levels during the rainy season may be contributing to wildlife displacement into inhabited areas.
