Wildlife encounters reported in Odisha and Uttarakhand
Multiple snake-related incidents have been reported in India, highlighting the risks of human-wildlife interaction. In the Mayurbhanj district of Odisha, forest officials rescued an eight-foot python that had been entangled in agricultural fishing netting for approximately five days in Aniapal village. After a health check, the reptile was released into the Similipal forest.
In a separate incident in Baripada, Odisha, a college student named Soumya Satpathy was bitten by a venomous snake while attempting to remove it from a residence. Satpathy was treated with anti-venom at a district hospital and is reported to be stable. Local authorities have noted concerns regarding untrained individuals performing unauthorized wildlife removals.
Additionally, in Haldwani, Uttarakhand, an eight-foot snake was discovered inside a parked scooter. Forest Department teams and a snake catcher successfully extracted the animal and relocated it to a forest area.
