Wildlife rehabilitation efforts lead to animal releases in Argentina and Mexico

In Córdoba, Argentina, the BioCórdoba Entity and Environmental Police released ten rehabilitated wild animals into the Mar Chiquita (Ansenuza) region. The group included a juvenile Jabiru stork, which had been treated for dehydration and low weight, seven small birds (Sporophila species) often recovered from illegal trafficking, and two lagoon turtles.

In Hidalgo, Mexico, the Federal Attorney for Environmental Protection (Profepa) released 33 rehabilitated animals in the Cerro de las Navajas area. The released fauna included a red-tailed hawk, an American hawk, a gray fox, seven cacomixtles, 17 opossums, three mice, two rattlesnakes, and a rock agouti. These animals underwent medical and behavioral evaluations at a rescue unit in Pachuca to ensure they could survive independently before being returned to their natural habitats.
