Wildlife released in Argentina's Ansenuza National Park
Environmental authorities in Córdoba, Argentina, have conducted several successful releases of rescued wildlife in the Ansenuza National Park and Mar Chiquita regions.
In one operation, Environmental Police released a male maned wolf (Chrysocyon brachyurus) into Ansenuza National Park. The animal, approximately three to four years old and weighing 25 kilograms, was originally rescued in Villa Santa Rosa. Following stabilization and medical evaluation at the Tatú Carreta rescue center, where specialists confirmed its health and implanted an identification chip, the wolf was returned to the wild.
Additionally, the BioCórdoba Entity and the Biodiversity Park Rescue Center released ten other specimens. These included a Jabiru stork (Cigüeña Tuyuyú) that had recovered from dehydration and low weight, seven small birds (Sporophila species) rescued from illegal wildlife trafficking, and two lagoon turtles (Phrynops hilarii) that were returned to nearby rivers after undergoing quarantine and behavioral rehabilitation.
