Wildlife rescues reported in Manaus and Igrejinha
In Manaus, Brazil, environmental patrol teams and the Municipal Guard rescued a green anaconda found inside a burlap sack in the Santa Etelvina neighborhood. The reptile showed visible signs of dehydration and mistreatment. Authorities have transferred the animal to Ibama for veterinary care, noting that the unauthorized capture of wild animals is an environmental crime.
In Igrejinha, Brazil, volunteer firefighters responded to a call regarding a venomous jararaca-cruzeira snake inside a residence in the Vila Nova neighborhood. Rescuers used specialized equipment to safely capture the snake and released it near the Paranhana River in a wooded area away from homes. Firefighters advised residents not to attempt capturing venomous snakes themselves and reminded the public that killing snakes is an environmental crime.
