Wildlife rescues reported in Mexico and Peru

Wildlife authorities in Mexico and Peru have conducted successful rescues of animals following citizen reports. In Tequisquiapan, Mexico, specialized personnel from the Centro de Atención Animal assisted a juvenile caracara (Caracara plancus) in the Santa Fe neighborhood after residents reported the bird.

In Oxapampa, Peru, specialists from the National Forest and Wildlife Service (Serfor) and park rangers from Yanachaga Chemillén National Park rescued two pichico monkeys (Saguinus fuscicollis). The primates, which showed signs of dehydration and high stress due to illegal trafficking, were reintegrated into the national park after veterinary evaluations confirmed they were fit for survival in the wild.
