Wildwood director Travis Knight discusses 16-year production at London premiere

Director Travis Knight reflected on the extensive production timeline of the stop-motion fantasy epic ‘Wildwood’ during its world premiere at the BFI London Film Festival. Knight noted that the project has been in development for 16 years, having begun after Laika optioned the book by Colin Meloy and Carson Ellis over a decade ago.

Knight described the meticulous nature of stop-motion animation, involving the movement of tiny objects in microscopic increments to capture individual frames. The film, which marks Laika’s first production to receive a PG-13 rating, is scheduled for release by Fathom Entertainment in the United States on October 23 and by Black Bear in the United Kingdom.
