Wilfred Mashaya wins four gold medals at Scottish Open

Zimbabwean martial artist Wilfred Mashaya, known as ‘Zim Ninja’, won four gold medals at the 2026 International Combat Organisation (ICO) Scottish Open Martial Arts Tournament in Glasgow. The competition, held at the Easterhouse Sports Centre, featured participants from across the United Kingdom, including Scotland, England, Wales, and Northern Ireland.

Mashaya secured first place in four distinct categories: Traditional Weapons, Freestyle Weapons, Creative Weapons, and Musical Weapons. His performance demonstrated technical control in established forms as well as precision and rhythm in the more creative and musical disciplines.

Mashaya, who founded the Zim Ninja Academy in 2018, has a history of international success, including a notable performance at the 2025 ICO World Championships in Wales. He attributed his success in Glasgow to rigorous preparation and expressed gratitude for the opportunity to represent Zimbabwe on the global stage.
