Wilfredo Mamani Calderón elected dean of Puno Teachers College

Wilfredo Mamani Calderón has been elected as the new dean of the Puno regional branch of the Colegio de Profesores del Perú. Following a second-round election, Mamani Calderón, representing Lista 1, secured 701 votes (55.5%), defeating Lista 4, which received 540 votes (42.49%).

The second round was required because no candidate achieved the 40% threshold during the initial vote involving four different lists. Serapio Quispe Solórzano, president of the Regional Electoral Committee, described the process as democratic and participatory.

The new leadership faces several challenges, including the need to improve the academic and pedagogical standards of registered teachers. Additionally, the committee emphasized the importance of advocating for regional curricula that reflect local realities in response to central government educational policies.
