Wilfrido Vargas to receive World Merengue Icon Award in Miami

Merengue musician Wilfrido Vargas will be honored with the ‘World Merengue Icon Award’ at the upcoming Premios Ícono ceremony in Miami. The event is scheduled for November 5 at the EB Hotel and will feature a red carpet reception attended by figures from the arts, music, and entertainment industries.

The award recognizes Vargas’s extensive career and his influence on the international evolution and projection of the merengue genre. His musical style is noted for incorporating innovative elements that helped consolidate merengue within the global tropical music market.

In conjunction with this recognition, Vargas is currently in Miami conducting a media tour to promote his new single, ‘Yo sin ti’. His promotional activities include appearances on Telemundo programs such as ‘Hoy Día’ and ‘En Casa con Telemundo’, as well as interviews with Univision.
