Wilhelmsburg Kehlturm begins autumn testing for permanent use

The Kehlturm tower at the Wilhelmsburg in Ulm is entering a new phase of testing for permanent use through the ‘Open Tower Sessions’ program this autumn. Following a summer program that drew approximately 22,000 visitors, the tower will host events on September 11, October 9, and November 20.

Visitors can explore 25 rooms along a circular ascent leading to a rooftop terrace, which currently houses open studios, workshops, showrooms, and spaces for scientific and creative exchange. A bar operates on the roof, supported by a rotating cultural program. In the event of bad weather, activities move to the Wilhelmsburg’s cultural casemate.

This initiative supports a long-term urban development goal to have all rooms in the Kehlturm permanently occupied and rented by 2028. These pilot phases allow organizers to test various uses and gather experience regarding the integration of culture, the creative economy, gastronomy, and event operations for future regular business.
