Wilhelmshaven evacuates 13,600 residents over WWII bomb discovery

Approximately 13,600 residents in the German city of Wilhelmshaven have begun evacuating following the discovery of an unexploded American aviation bomb from World War II.

The 227-kilogram munition was located on August 31 during construction work being conducted at a naval arsenal. Local authorities have ordered the evacuations as a safety precaution.
