Will Jawando addresses health after heart attack amid County Executive race

Montgomery County Council member and Democratic nominee for County Executive Will Jawando has addressed the media following a heart attack he suffered on September 5 while playing basketball. Jawando, 43, underwent a stent implant at George Washington University Hospital after friends recognized his symptoms and called for an ambulance.

Jawando stated he is on track for a full recovery and intends to continue his campaign for County Executive at a reduced pace, with in-person events scheduled to resume this coming Saturday. He emphasized the importance of regular health screenings, noting that the incident has changed his perspective on life.

In a separate development regarding the election, Republican nominee Esther Wells expressed frustration after Jawando declined to participate in a debate. Wells had reportedly spent months preparing responses to various local issues, including school closures, taxes, and county spending.
