Willem Dafoe stars in indie drama ‘Late Fame’
The indie film ‘Late Fame’, directed by Kent Jones, features a performance by Willem Dafoe as Ed Saxberger, a postal worker in New York City. The story follows Saxberger, a former bohemian poet whose past literary success resurfaces when he is approached by a young admirer, Wilson Meyers.
Based on a screenplay by Samy Burch adapted from a posthumously published 19th-century novella by Austrian writer Arthur Schnitzler, the film explores themes of aging, art, and the intersection of youth and experience. The narrative depicts Saxberger’s transition from a quiet life of routine to being embraced by a group of young intellectuals known as ‘The Enthusiasm Society’.
