Willem II signs defender Ter Avest amid Dutch Eredivisie transfer activity
Defender Jordy Ter Avest, who became a free agent after his contract with Oxford United expired, has joined Dutch Eredivisie club Willem II. The 30‑year‑old brings 183 top‑flight appearances, having previously played for FC Twente, Udinese, FC Utrecht and Oxford United. He said, "I have consciously taken the time to make the right choice… the conversations with Willem II and the confidence the club showed convinced me."
At the same time, Fortuna Sittard’s technical director Joris Mathijsen said the club is looking to strengthen its squad this summer with a foreign player and a central defender. Mathijsen noted that midfielder Mohamed Ihattaren remains with the team but has not yet attracted interest from other clubs, adding that Ihattaren is training fully and intends to pursue a transfer when the opportunity arises.
