Willem Weijs appointed under‑19 coach at FC Twente after leaving Ajax

Willem Weijs has taken over as the under‑19 coach of the FC Twente/Heracles Academy, signing a one‑year contract. The former Jong Ajax coach, who was dismissed by Ajax in February following a meeting with technical director Jordy Cruijff, said he now feels the appreciation that was missing at his previous club.

Weijs, who previously worked in youth departments at PSV, Ajax, NAC Breda, Willem II, Anderlecht, Lommel SK and FC Eindhoven, will also supervise other youth coaches at Twente. He described the move as a return to his passion and an opportunity to make an impact, adding that Twente sees him as a major asset for rebuilding the club’s youth structure.
