William Andrews researches pill to slow or reverse aging

Molecular biologist William Andrews is conducting research into a pill that could potentially slow or reverse the aging process. His work focuses on telomeres, which are DNA-protecting structures that shorten as cells divide, contributing to aging and age-related diseases.

Andrews, who previously led a team at Geron Corporation that identified the human telomerase enzyme, is currently seeking to identify compounds that can stimulate telomerase activity within the body. He has stated that he has identified compounds capable of activating the gene responsible for producing telomerase, but the project requires significant funding. He estimates the research costs approximately $2 million per month and suggests that if necessary funding is secured, the product could be available within one to three years.
