William Inge, Tennessee linebackers coach, hospitalized

Tennessee Volunteers linebackers coach William Inge has been hospitalized at the University of Tennessee Medical Center due to an undisclosed personal medical issue. The 52-year-old assistant coach has been under medical care for over a week.

In a joint statement from the university and Inge’s family, the program requested privacy and asked for prayers and support during this time. Head coach Josh Heupel noted that while the situation became serious mid-week, Inge has experienced “small wins” recently and is described as a fighter.

Inge, who joined the Tennessee staff in 2024, was not present on the sidelines during the team’s recent game against Texas. His coaching career includes previous roles at Washington, Fresno State, Indiana, and the Buffalo Bills in the NFL.
