William Jewell defeats Quincy University with last-second field goal

William Jewell College secured a 20-17 victory over Quincy University in the sixth annual Battle of the Birds. The win improves the Cardinals' season record to 4-1 and their Great Lakes Valley Conference record to 3-1.

After trading early field goals, Quincy University took a 17-10 lead into halftime following a touchdown run by Collin Parsons. Following a scoreless third quarter, William Jewell tied the game in the final minutes with a three-yard touchdown run by Hunter Bailey.

With 1:41 remaining in regulation, a substitution penalty by Quincy allowed William Jewell to gain a first down at the 36-yard line. This set up a game-winning 21-yard field goal by Bleu Renfrow as time expired.
