William Lamptey reflects on perfectionism after Africa Monologue Challenge win

Ghanaian actor William Lamptey has identified himself as a perfectionist following his victory in the 13th edition of the 2026 Africa Monologue Challenge (AMC) held in Ghana.

In an interview on Joy Prime’s Changes show, Lamptey discussed how his creative process involves rigorous self-assessment and an openness to criticism to improve his craft. He noted that he strives for excellence in every performance, regardless of the scale of the project.

Lamptey credited his success to two pivotal performances: ‘Down Syndrome’, which won the viewers’ favourite award in phase eight, and ‘The Truth’, which was selected as the favourite by both judges and viewers in phase nine. He stated these performances provided the motivation and footing necessary to win the competition.
