William & Mary sweeps Norfolk State in volleyball match
William & Mary volleyball defeated Norfolk State in a straight-set sweep (25-17, 25-16, 27-25) on Tuesday night at Gill Gymnasium. The Tribe secured their second consecutive sweep, driven by a season-high .340 hitting percentage and 44 total kills.
Despite the loss, Norfolk State's Gabrielle Gilbert recorded a match-high-tying 10 kills, bringing her career total to 1,176, just one shy of the program record. The Spartans remained competitive in the third set, holding a 24-23 set point before William & Mary won four of the final five points to close the match.
William & Mary's performance was bolstered by Teagan Pocius, who led the team with 11 points, and Cate Hatfield, who recorded 35 assists. The Tribe will next travel to North Carolina to face Appalachian State.
