William Paterson University study identifies lemon as healthiest fruit
A study conducted by researchers at William Paterson University in New Jersey has evaluated 41 different foods based on nutrient density, fiber content, vitamins, sugar levels, and calories. Published in the journal ‘Preventing Chronic Disease’, the research found that while green vegetables like watercress and Chinese cabbage dominate the overall rankings, the lemon stands out as the healthiest fruit in the analysis.
In terms of vitamin C content, other fruits such as the kiwi also offer significant nutritional benefits. Green kiwis provide approximately 92.7 mg of vitamin C per 100g, while yellow kiwis contain significantly more, reaching up to 161.3 mg per 100g. This exceeds the vitamin C content found in oranges, which provide about 59.1 mg per 100g.
