William Ruto dismisses Gachagua's niobium mining allegations
President William Ruto dismissed questions regarding allegations made by former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua concerning niobium deposits at Mrima Hills in Kwale County. During a roundtable interview at State House, Mombasa, Ruto refused to address the claims, referring to Gachagua as a “complete fool” and a “madman.”
Gachagua has alleged that President Ruto traveled to the United States during the United Nations General Assembly to finalize a deal with an American company to exploit the high-value minerals. The former Deputy President claimed that the agreement would deprive Kenyans of economic benefits, alleging that the potential Ksh8.2 trillion value would be split between the President and the American firm. Gachagua has threatened to seek legal counsel to challenge the proposed exploitation in court.
