William Shatner recounts kidney stone auction for charity

Actor William Shatner recently revisited a unique charitable event from 2006 involving the auction of his kidney stone. During an appearance on the podcast ‘Dropping Names with Brent and Jonny’, the 95-year-old Star Trek icon explained that a Canadian gambling company purchased the stone to use as an unconventional publicity tool due to advertising restrictions.

The auction of the kidney stone raised $75,000. When combined with an additional $25,000 contributed by Shatner’s ‘Boston Legal’ castmates, the total donation reached $100,000. The funds were donated to Habitat for Humanity to build a home for a family of five in Louisiana.
