William Troost-Ekong converts to Islam

Former Nigerian national team captain William Troost-Ekong has announced his conversion to Islam. The 33-year-old defender, who currently plays for the Qatar Stars League club Al-Ahli, reportedly embraced the faith by reciting the Shahada, the two testimonies of faith.

According to reports from Al-Arab newspaper, a video of the Nigerian international reciting the testimonies has circulated widely on social media, drawing significant attention from sporting communities in Qatar and across the Arab world.

Troost-Ekong has had a professional career spanning over a decade, playing for various clubs in the Netherlands, Norway, Belgium, Turkey, Italy, and England, including a notable period with Watford. He has earned 83 caps for the Super Eagles.
