William Zepeda celebrates WBC lightweight world title

Mexican boxer William ‘Camarón’ Zepeda celebrated his recent achievement of winning the World Boxing Council (WBC) lightweight world title. Zepeda secured the championship in Las Vegas, Nevada, by defeating Lamont Roach Jr. via unanimous decision after 12 rounds.

Zepeda returned to his home region in the State of Mexico, holding a press conference and autograph session in Metepec to engage with fans and young athletes. He expressed that the title represents years of discipline and is a victory for his entire home state. Looking forward, Zepeda stated his intention to face the top contenders in the 135-pound division and pursue unification bouts to become an undisputed champion.

In a subsequent interview with the WBC, Zepeda reflected on the significance of returning an absolute lightweight world championship to Mexico after a 14-year hiatus.
