Williams emphasizes transparency with drivers Sainz and Albon

Team principal James Vowles said that absolute transparency is the foundation for maintaining trust with drivers Carlos Sainz and Alex Albon. He made the comments during a live recording of the Up To Speed podcast at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, explaining that frank communication, even when the news is unfavorable, helps build a relationship that can endure difficult periods.

Vowles highlighted that keeping the drivers fully informed allows them to understand the team's real situation, align expectations and stay motivated as Williams continues its rebuilding phase. After nine races in the 2026 season, the team sits eighth in the constructors’ standings with 11 points, and Vowles believes the transparent approach will support both technical development and on‑track performance.
