Williams eyes Sergio Pérez as potential 2027 F1 driver

Williams Racing team principal James Vowles is reportedly evaluating Mexican driver Sergio Pérez as a candidate for the 2027 Formula 1 season. Pérez’s contract with Cadillac is set to end after the 2026 season, leaving him free to move, and his personal sponsors could provide a significant financial boost to the financially strained British team.

The future of current Williams driver Carlos Sainz Jr. is also uncertain. Sainz’s deal runs through 2025‑2026 with options to extend, but he has expressed dissatisfaction with the car’s performance under the new 2026 regulations. Williams is therefore exploring alternatives, including a possible move for Sainz to Aston Martin or Alpine, while also considering other drivers such as Alex Albon.
