Williams Lake Credit Union hosts auction for livestock rescue
The Williams Lake & District Credit Union is hosting an in-branch silent auction to benefit the Rising Star Rescue Society, a nonprofit dedicated to helping livestock in the Williams Lake area.
To encourage community support, the fundraiser features a bake sale organized by credit union staff and a kissing booth. The booth, which was set up on September 21, featured a three-year-old Highland cow named Dirt and a companion named Sheepie.
Darrell Garreau of the credit union noted that the decision to support the rescue society was influenced by the organization’s efforts during the summer wildfire season, specifically their assistance in transporting animals out of dangerous situations. Rising Star Rescue Society founder Misty Schulz emphasized that such events help bring attention to animal welfare issues that can sometimes be overlooked.
